Sainsbury’s Leyton Midland choose us as Charity of the Year

Sainsburys Leyton Midland Charity of the Year

Thank you to Sainsbury’s new Leyton Midland store for choosing us as your charity of the year!

We were at Sainsbury’s Leyton Midland new store opening on Thursday 8 June 2017. Children from George Mitchell Nursery opened the store — it was great fun watching kids from George Mitchell Nursery cut the ribbon!

Poetry competition book of winning poems now on Ebay

Poetry competition graphic

Last year we organised a poetry competition and the book of winning poems ‘Crying for the Lost Tigers’ has now been published and is available to buy on eBay.

The book costs just £10.

This booklet of 33 pages features the 30 winning poems from our fundraising poetry competition.

The competition took place in 2016 and was generously sponsored by The Stow Brothers estate agents of Walthamstow.

Inviting people to send in poems about families—in all their aspects—brings up moving material. The 123 poems we received for our first ever poetry competition at Carefree Kids charity makes it clear that most emotions under the sun are evoked by putting feelings, thoughts and memories about this topic into words: the joy, stress, lack, longing, amazement, delight, reverence, humour, gratitude, anger, struggle, sadness, devotion, questions (‘Who is the parent and who is the child?’)
