Health & Well-Being Award 2010
Health &
 Well-being Award 2010

Carefree Kids were winners in the 2010 "Love Your Borough" awards.

Ros Kane accepted the award for the "Health and Well-being" category from the olympic gold-medallist, Sally Gunnell. The award was a welcome recognition of the vital work Carefree Kids continues to make available in the London Borough of Waltham Forest.

The award acknowledges the role we, at Carefree Kids provide in helping and supporting the emotional well-being of babies, children, teenager, parents and carers in Waltham Forest. This includes the work in schools where there is an available room or providing a mobile therapy play bus when space is limited.

Although our real reward is seeing the difference play therapy makes to the children our volunteers work with each school year, it was nice to know that the benefits of play therapy are being supported by our borough and local community.

FIRST LOCAL BENEFIT FOR CAREFREE KIDS!

We were delighted when Lammas Secondary School in Leyton contacted us to say they wanted their next fundraising concert to be a benefit for us! A superb concert took place on Wednesday 31st March 2010, when many students and a few members of staff joined together for performances of song, dance and music.

The audience - and Carefree Kids representatives - had a very good time, with lots of enthusiastic applause. There were refreshments and a raffle. And three boys had previously made a video about Carefree Kids. The proceeds from the concert are being used to buy more play therapy DVDs to train our growing number of volunteers. We hope to continue this relationship with the school. Many thanks to Helen Julian, learning mentor (and singer!), and her colleagues for taking this great initiative.
